Brilliant service!
I engaged Beresfords to manage my property for four years. They actually caused more problems than they fixed. So much cost was incurred because they didn't oversee works done to the property correctly. Even now, some months after changing to a new (and I should add - fantastic) agent, we're still finding problems that Beresfords told us had been 'fixed' or dealt with months ago. They gave inaccurate 'advice' throughout (ultimately costing us a fortune in time and money), weren't responsive to emails and calls, and were really unpleasant to deal with in the end. I had to get involved in every issue, at one point dealing directly a tenant because Beresfords were being slow and uncooperative (when a boiler broke down in January, leaving my poor tenant freezing). They made 'parting ways' a nightmare and in the end were actually negligent. I would suggest avoiding them - there are some really good other agents in the Brentwood area that in my experience, are more professional, responsive and proactive in handling properties on behalf of landlords.
After a bad experience with Purplebricks (do not believe the adverts), Beresfords came in and saved the day. I originally instructed Purplebricks to let my property to see if the hype is for real - it's not! I quickly lost confidence with them and instructed Beresfords to locate me a tenant because Purplebricks couldn't! From instruction, Beresfords commitment to finding a tenant was really impressive. Beresfords communication (email and phone) from start to finish was impeccable. (Purplebricks were awful on this point). Their local knowledge is second to none (Purplebricks is very questionable on this point too).When I spoke to the office, whoever I spoke to, they had an extremely good understanding of my property and its associated progress. (if you can't get hold of your designated Purplebricks agent - which was often, you had to call a national hotline which meant speaking to someone who had zero knowledge on your property)Beresfords were extremely honest and professional - advising/ guiding me on legislation and relevant law where applicable.They seem to be very well connected and proactive, not just relying on Rightmove to locate leads (like Purplebricks).Very quickly I had a number of viewings, and subsequently offers all via Beresfords. My negative experience with Purplebricks just amplified how positive Beresfords were. You pay for what you get, and paying that little bit extra pays for itself. The most unprofessional service. Spoken down to by virtual children who should be stacking shelves somewhere not working in an estate agents. I have been renting for years and have never been treated so badly. Beresfords Brentwood needs to be closed down and leave the housing market to professionals. They slam the phone down after you have spoken to them, insulting me with innuendos, I was treated like I am a nuisance, just a bunch of school leavers thinking they are something they are not, they couldnt even get the facts right about the return of my deposit, one says it takes 24hrs another one says 5 working days. These people need to be trained properly. I say dont sell or rent your property with them and DEFINITELY DO NOT rent from them.
