I see that transport were mentioned in a previous negative comment. I work in 3 similar sedation clinics in Essex and the transport rules are given by NHS England and we all have to adhere to it. The driver needs to be on the premises before sedation is started. Also if no private car, then a taxi home, NEVER public transport. All these are typed out in the pre-op information sheet given at the intial assessment visit. This is all to ensure patient safety.
Hutton Village practice specialises with nervous patients. I've been left severely disappointed on the two visits I recently had. I had two wisdom teeth out under sedation. Firstly, I went there for the first time to arrange to have my sedation, the dentist needed to see me in order to do this. The dentist said I cannot go back home after being sedated via public transport, and that I'll need either a lift back or a taxi home. If the lift or taxi is late, under no circumstances can I stay in the practice. This scared me a lot because what happens if there's a bit traffic or a crash on the motorway? I was told no, if my car escort is late, they'll phone for a taxi. Skip to last weekend for my actual extractions. When I arrived, the receptionist was very cold and stern and asked if the driver is with me. I said no the driver is my sister's friend and she will be arriving while I'm having this procedure done. She then said they don't allow this as the driver could be late or have a flat tyre. I said well that could also happen to a taxi car and if I was going to have a taxi, they wouldn't be required to 'stay' at the surgery while I'm under sedation. It's not really that different, is it? I realise people are doing their jobs but at the end of the day, the approach staff adopted on two occasions are at odds with specialising with nervous patients. I never ever want to go back to this practice. Unprofessional, not friendly and made me even more nervous. Horrible experiences.
I was so anxious about having a tooth out but once under sedation i didnt remember a thing and was home so quick.can highly recommend
On the NHS choices website this surgery takes NHS patients, it does not its PRIVATE like many others, and there are no REAL choices at all, some dental surgeries take both but you will find that the top dentists in these surgeries will only do private work so you have to be happy with any old dentist normally with lesser credentials, Money definitely TALKS !!!!
I was under informed about the procedure before and after. When I asked questions they were brushed aside.I have been uncomfortable since I had a wisdom tooth removed a few months ago and in hind sight I wouldn't have had it done.
